CoBank's "No Barriers" Program for Disabled Veterans From Rural Communities

For generations, people from rural America have made up a disproportionate share of the nation’s military personnel. According to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, over 5 million of the 22 million veterans in the United States come from rural communities. Of those, more than 40 percent have service-related disabilities.

At CoBank, we believe every American owes an enormous debt of gratitude to the men and women who serve in the armed forces and protect our country. That’s why we are pleased to be launching a new program for rural veterans with disabilities in partnership with No Barriers USA, a Colorado-based nonprofit organization.

No Barriers is dedicated to empowering people to overcome challenges, find their inner purpose, and contribute their very best to the world. No Barriers Warriors is a program that specifically supports our nation’s veterans who have been wounded or injured, helping them to transform their lives through curriculum-based experiences in challenging environments.

In 2017, CoBank will launch a program that will allow eligible customers to nominate a disabled veteran from their community to participate in a No Barriers Warriors expedition. Up to 50 veterans will be selected for the program. The full cost of the program, including travel, will be covered by CoBank.

The program is open to the first 50 nominated veterans who meet all program requirements. Nominate a veteran from your community today!
